Train the brain
Your bot answers from its brain — everything you teach it about your business. The more you add, the more it can answer. Open Brain in your dashboard to manage it.
Four ways to add knowledge
- Paste text — the fastest way. Give it a title, paste anything (policies, product details, hours), and it's indexed in a minute.
- Add an FAQ — a question and answer pair, ideal for precise answers to common questions.
- Crawl your website — point it at your URL and it indexes your pages automatically, with re-crawls on demand.
- Upload a document — PDFs, text or markdown up to 5 MB.
Everything you add is chunked, indexed and searched together — nothing is overwritten. Delete any source anytime from the Knowledge tab.
Grounding modes
Under Brain settings you choose how strictly the bot sticks to your knowledge:
- Strict (recommended) — the bot answers only from your knowledge. Anything it wasn't taught is politely deflected, so it never guesses or talks about unrelated topics.
- Blended — it prefers your knowledge but may also use the AI's general knowledge to be helpful.
In strict mode you can set the deflection message (what it says when it doesn't know), whether to offer a human handoff, whether to allow small talk, and how strict "relevant" means.
Test what it knows
Use the Test retrieval tab to ask a question like a visitor would. You'll get a verdict — "Answers from brain" or "Would deflect" — with match scores, so you can see exactly what your brain does and doesn't cover.
Close the gaps
Every real question the bot couldn't answer is logged in the Gaps tab, ranked by how often it was asked. Turn any gap into an FAQ with one click.
